In Scandinavia, baby & childrens clothes tend to be cut differently to clothes here in the UK.
Hedgepig have written this size guide to help you choose which size to buy for your little one.
We are always happy to measure garments for you, just email.
KATVIG
Katvig clothing seems to be pretty much spot on when it comes to size. They offer 4 sizes for babies first year and then 6 montly to 2 years and then yearly after that. Some garments can be cut slightly longer, making them ideal for cloth nappy wearers.
The Katvig boiler suits do come up quite big so you may wish to consider a size down and this season the fine knitted bodysuits are also quite long, making 0-6 more suitable for 3-9 months and 6-12 months suitable from 9-18 months.
PLASTISOCK
This Swedish brand tends to be very generous in some items, but not in others. To make things even more complicated they operate a dual sizing system.
As a general rule, the Plastisock soft cotton comes up big and the crisp cotton comes up quite small, making stock ordering very challenging!
The 18-24 month garments are likely to last until approximately 2.5 years and the 3-4 yr garments may well fit up to 5 years. Plastisock seem to have missed a size group 12-18 months and 2-3 years, and we'd hate babes of this age to miss out on this funky brand!
EJ SIKKE LEJ
These garments from this Danish brand Ej Sikke Lej are fairly true to size and have a slightly fitted cut.
IDA T
Once again fairly true to size but with a more conventional cut, meaning that the garments may be slighter shorter than Katvig. The jumpsuits may come up a little bigger than sized, ideal for cloth nappy wearers, so maybe a smaller size may be required.
MOONKIDS
Moonkids operate a dual sizing system and their garments do come up quite long and skinny. They are however designed to be worn fitted and many garments have adjustable buttons so that they will last a long time. The rib items have a lot of stretch in them with the exception of the solid rib garments that do not have as much.
KAMMAKARLO
This pretty brands sizing is similar to the UK. The cut for this seasons garments are mainly loose and flowing in cool cotton.
SNOOZY
This brand seems to be pretty spot on size wise. Like Plastisock, the items are dual sized. The items sized as 74-80 (9-12m) look like they will last longer than 12 months.
KIK*KID
kik*kid tends to be cut quite small and therefore you may wish to consider ordering a size up. The jumpsuits are quite true to size but the terry jakcets are quite slim.
URBAN ELK
The urban Elk garments for AW08 were cut on the small size, however from SS09 they have moved to organic cotton and the garments seem much more true to size, perhaps even on the large side.
BRIGHTS & STRIPES
This fabby brand is spot on size wise so simply order babies normal size.
